Openads, an open source ad server, raises $5 million

Filed under: Uncategorized — chucklam @ 1:49 pm

News from TechCrunch:

Openads, formerly called phpadsnew, is the most popular adserver solution when measured by number of publishers using it. They have 25,000 publishers using the sofware on 100,000 sites in 140 different countries and in 20 languages.

This got me interested because I’ve been meaning to check out this software for some time now. It’s no big secret that a lot of web data analysis intends to generate value by providing better advertising, so I’ve wanted to investigate Openads’ capability for integrating with various data algorithms. The ad server, of course, must log a lot of interesting data itself, and just looking at that data may inspire new ideas.

OK, note to self…, bump this up on the to-do list and dive into this software sometime this summer…
