Actually part II of the YDN broadcast is already available, and from the publish dates it apparently was made available before part I.

Chuck:

Tom Tague from Calais here.

First, thanks for taking note of Calais. We're pretty proud of it and like it when we get discovered.

Given the focus of your blog on data strategies I'd like to mention an opportunity for others interested in this space. While Calais is a great tool for extracting meaning from unstructured content - it also has another use: it can turn text into data.

Just a quick example. You could process a feed of news articles and press releases and convert the events Calais detects (like management changes, IPO's, natural disasters and many others) into 1's and 0's by event type. This can then be fed directly into classic BI and reporting tools.

This is obviously a very simplified example .. but you get the idea.

Thanks again.

I believe your blog (.com) is a dead-on topic especially given all the activity data quality and data governance.

Come visit my two blogs =

Feel free to leave a post, as well.

Interesting article on "the cloud". Another important SaaS trend is the number of much smaller vendors such as www.HostedDatabase.com that have come on the scene lately to offer simple-to-use template apps. Their aim seems to be to get a foothold inside SMBs.

I have to say that I have had more than my share of problems with adsense also.

My site, JohnDerrick.com is all about self development, and yet 90% of the ads I was seeing for 6 months were for football and the NFL.

Od eh?

I agree with you on the use of NLP.
